Kosh's live painting in Seoul <Glimmering Yellow Moment of Peace at the End of Passion>

An immense, empty canvas, untouched by any drawing, became an NFT, filling the monitor at Saatchi Gallery.

From October 28 to November 5, 2023, artist Kosh's work was exhibited at 'The Oulim 2023' festival at Saatchi Gallery in London, England. These two blank canvases, transformed into NFTs, were to be completed during a live painting showcase after the auction winner was determined. At the exhibition's opening ceremony at Saatchi Gallery, Kosh intrigued audiences with an impromptu performance previewing her showcase.

On Monday, December 11th, a live painting showcase filled two massive canvases measuring 130.3 x 162.2. This event, featuring a fusion and reinterpretation of Eastern and Western music by crossover ensemble ‘닮음 Dal_mEum' under the direction of Jang Hee-young, showcased an impromptu collaboration utilizing bass gayageum and 25-string gayageum.

The profound melody of the bass gayageum commenced after a long silence, harmonizing with the energy painting, the burst of colors flung onto the canvas, and the mingling gazes of the artist and spectators. The final result was a grand yellow circle, completed with white and bright yellow strokes and sprinkled with golden dust, as 'Imagine' played in the background, bringing a moment of peace.

This vivid painting process and the emotions at the scene were captured on video, aiming to convey a sense of connection through audience interaction. The completed artwork from the showcase will be delivered to the auction winner after ten days. This work, auctioned at the highest price at 'The Oulim 2023 Festival,' was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency, with planning and curation by marketing consulting firm 'Team 8 Partners.' 

This pioneering challenge of exhibiting and auctioning an unfinished work at London's Saatchi Gallery for the first time is seen as presenting new possibilities in the art and digital art world. We support and encourage artist Kosh, who has achieved the monumental title of being the first to exhibit a blank canvas and conduct a live painting at Saatchi Gallery.
