Team8 Partners, a cross-border business company specialising in global brand and IP expansion, has officially launched a structured HALAL AWARENESS TRAINING programme for Korean companies in collaboration with its strategic Malaysian halal partner, Iktisad Global.

The programme forms part of the practical implementation phase following the launch of the Korea–Malaysia Halal Excellence Consortium 2026, and is designed to build foundational understanding within Korean companies prior to entering the halal market.

■ Bridging the Gap: Understanding Before Certification

JAKIM-based halal certification is widely recognised as one of the most trusted standards for market entry into Malaysia and broader OIC countries.

However, many Korean companies still perceive halal certification as merely a religious label or a technical compliance issue. This limited understanding often leads to strategic misalignment, internal confusion, and delays in preparation.

To address this gap, Team8 Partners has prioritised an awareness-first approach, ensuring that companies develop a clear conceptual understanding before moving into operational certification stages.

■ HALAL AWARENESS TRAINING – A Foundational Programme for Korean Companies

Jointly delivered by Team8 Partners and Iktisad Global, the HALAL AWARENESS TRAINING programme focuses on core principles rather than procedural application.

The objective is to help corporate leadership teams and operational managers build a shared internal understanding of what halal represents in today’s global market.

The training covers the following key areas:

Overview of the Global Halal IndustryMarket size, growth trends, consumer demographics across OIC countries, and the expansion of halal across sectors including food, beauty, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and tourism

Fundamental Principles of Halal and HaramCore Islamic jurisprudence concepts and their practical implications for ingredients, production processes, hygiene standards, and ethical compliance

Overview of Malaysia’s Halal Certification Framework (JAKIM)The structure of Malaysia’s halal governance system, its global credibility, and the basic requirements and pathways for certification

This awareness training is not designed as an immediate certification workshop. Instead, it serves as a strategic starting point — aligning internal stakeholders and establishing the right mindset before companies proceed to formal application and compliance stages.

Team8 Partners emphasises that halal certification should not be viewed merely as regulatory compliance, but rather as a recognised standard of quality, transparency, and ethical integrity within the global marketplace.

■ From Awareness to Market Execution

Beyond knowledge transfer, the programme provides strategic direction for companies planning JAKIM certification and Malaysian market entry.

Following the awareness stage, Team8 Partners offers a structured, end-to-end roadmap including:

  • Pre-screening assessments

  • Documentation workshops

  • Certification process management

  • Local distribution and market entry support

This integrated model is designed to reduce trial-and-error risks and enhance efficiency throughout the halal expansion journey.

■ Ongoing Expansion of the Programme

Team8 Partners plans to institutionalise the HALAL AWARENESS TRAINING programme and expand it into sector-specific modules tailored to food, beauty, nutraceuticals, and related industries.

Further educational sessions will also be incorporated into upcoming consortium-led conferences and official bilateral initiatives under the Korea–Malaysia Halal Excellence framework.
